August 2, 2013
Awana directors Greg and Michelle Gilstad have set Wednesday, Aug. 21 as the starting date for the Martha Road Awana Program. The church will offer clubs for five age groups: Puggles (nursery aged children), Cubbies (three and four year olds). Sparks (grades K through 2), Truth and Training (grades 3 – 6), and Trek (grades 7 – 8).
The children and youth are involved in Bible study, Scripture memory and recreation activities during the hour and a half program. As the clubbers recite Scripture verses and complete their handbooks they are awarded special patches and pins they can wear on their Awana uniforms.
Awana is a non-denominational organization that partners in ministry with the local church. The Awana name stands for “Approved Workman are Not Ashamed”, which comes from the Bible verse found in 2 Timothy 2:15. There are approximately 12,000 churches with Awana clubs in the U.S. as well as 13,000 international Awana programs.
Awana will take place on Wednesdays from 5:55 – 7:30 p.m. throughout the school year. For more information please contact the church at 482-3377 or the church website at www.martharoadbaptist.org. Martha Road Baptist Church is located four miles north of Wal-Mart on Highway 283.
