ACMI House needs donated clothing to restock items for Sexual Assault Service Program (SASP). The items will be used for SASP any time a rape occurs with the five county service area.
“Many times a victim must surrender their clothes as evidence and ACMI House provides a new set of clothing to the victim,” says Lori Sherman, ACMI House Sexual Assault Advocate. ACMI House responds 100 percent to all victims requesting their services, she explained.
The following items are needed immediately:
12 pairs of slip on shoes or slippers (2 of each size - 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, or 2 each S,M,L,XL), sports bras (3 S, 2 L,3 XL, 1 XXL), 12 sweat pants (3 S, 3 L, 3 XL, 2XXL), 12 Shirts (3 S, 3 L, 3 XL, 2 XXL, 2 XXL), and 12 pairs of white socks.
The vision of ACMI House is to end domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking in our communities. They work to serve victims and educate the community. When working with victims their goals are safety and empowerment.
ACMI House is a program that is operated under the umbrella of Southwest Oklahoma Community Action Group, Inc. They serve victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. The Oklahoma Attorney General’s office certifies and monitors services. The OAG funds the program along with the Victims of Crime Act Grant, Sexual Assault Services Program Grant, and the support of the community.
“Over the last few years we have seen some changes,” Sherman said. “While rates of such crimes are increasing, financial resources are decreasing due to budget cuts. This causes a problem for our program and ultimately the clients that we serve.”
ACMI House is asking the community for help.
