Home break-in, stolen car reported

Altus Police are investigating a 1st Degree Burglary and the the theft of an automobile from a residence in the 2400 block of Robin.


According to Altus Police Chief Tim Murphy, police were called to the residence on Tuesday morning at approximately 6 a.m. when the homeowners discovered someone had entered their residence overnight.


Murphy said that after opening the back gate, the suspect(s) gained entry into the residence through an unlocked garage door. The victims purse and other property was later found on the back porch.


The victim also discovered the suspect(s) had stolen their 2005 Honda Accord, silver in color, from the driveway. That vehicle was recovered a short time later in the 600 block of Mitchell.
