Mrs. Graves’ kindergarten class at Roosevelt Elementary School enjoyed a free lunch from Applebee’s on Friday, Sept. 13. Students enjoyed everything from corndogs, chicken fingers, steak, hamburgers, french fries, macaroni and cheese, and apple sauce.

Each student was allowed to selected their meal earlier in the week, and then it was delivered during their lunch-time Friday as part of the “No Kid Hungry,” effort that many restaurants are participating in.

“They got to all pick their own meal. They circled the meal they wanted,” said Holly Graves. “Is it Friday yet?” her students would ask her each day leading up to their big lunch.

This Sunday, Sept. 15, Applebee’s will be have a Dining to Donate event and will donate 10 percent of each customer’s entire purchase to Share Our Strength’s “No Kid Hungry,” a campaign to end childhood hunger in America. Visit for more information.

For a limited time, kids eat free all day, Monday through Thursday until Sept 26.
