October 1, 2013

KOCO 5’s On The Road Salute To Service Tour made their first stop at the Altus City Park to celebrate Oklahoma’s active duty and retired military personnel, on Monday, Sept. 30.

KOCO 5’s news anchors Paul Folger (left), Jessica Schambach, and Morgan Chesky performed a live news broadcast from the Altus City Park to honor service members stationed at Altus Air Force Base. The news team reported the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Oklahoma news, and also provided insight to the 97th Air Mobility Wing mission at AAFB by taking the viewing audience on a tour of the C-17 mid-air refueling aircraft, and interviewing the 97th Air Nobility Wing Commander Col. William A. Spangenthal during the 6 p.m. news.

Today the tour will visit Fort Sill, broadcasting the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts from the Fort Sill Field Artillery Museum. Wednesday, Oct. 2, brings the tour to Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City. KOCO 5 will broadcast the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. news from Town Center Mall in Midwest City. Thursday, Oct. 3, takes the tour to Vance Air Force Base in Enid. KOCO 5 will broadcast live at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. from Enid’s Convention Hall. Friday, Oct. 4, the tour concludes with live broadcasts at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. from the 45th Infantry Museum in Oklahoma City. The museum is a unique showcase of Oklahoma’s distinguished military service, past and present.
