Second arrest made in rape case

Altus Police have arrested a second man in connection with a sexual assault that took place in the early morning hours of Saturday, Sept. 28.

Daniel Alexander, 18, was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon on a Jackson County arrest warrant for sexual battery. He was transported and booked into the Jackson County Jail on a $25,000 bond. Investigators arrested Knighe Rhoden, 18, early Saturday morning. Rhoden was jailed on a complaint of 1st degree rape and his bond has been set at $50,000.

Both Rhoden and Alexander are members of the Western Oklahoma State basketball team. Western President Phil Birdine was not available for comment, and Western Athletic Director Bob Pierson would not give a comment. Pierson did say that the matter has been turned over to Western Vice President of Business Affairs Tricia Latham.

Both Rhoden and Alexander are accused of sexually assaulting the victim while at a party at 601 West Commerce.
