Public hearing set on KC-46A Environmental Impact Study

A public hearing will be held by the U.S. Air Force (USAF) on Oct. 28, at the Altus City Auditorium, 300 E. Commerce, Altus, for an opportunity for public testimony on the KC-46A tanker aircraft to beddown at Altus AFB. Doors open at 5 p.m. The hearing will be called to order at 5:30 p.m., followed by a USAF presentation and comments from the public. The Auditorium will close at 8 p.m.

The USAF has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for public review. The Draft EIS includes analysis of the potentail environmental impacts associtated with the proposal to beddown the KC-46A, associated infrastructure, and manpower for the Formal Training Unit (FTU) and First Main Operating Base (MOB 1) at existing active duty USAF installations withing the contenential United States.

The USAF is soliciting comments on the Draft EIS from the interested local, state, and federal agencies, as well as interested members of the public and others. The USAF will hold public hearings to provide the public with and opportunity to learn about the proposal and provide input.

Review of the Draft EIS is an important part of the environmental process. Public input supoprtsa the USAF in making informed decisions. The public is encouraged to review a copy of the draft EIS and provide comments. Copies can be obtained from, at the Altus Public Library and Altus AFB Library.
