Agriculture commodity marketing meeting set for Dec. 18

The Jackson County Extension Office and Southwest Technology Center (SWTC) will offer a commodity market meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Room 109, at SWTC.

Discussion leaders will be Dr. Kim Anderson, OSU Extension Grain Marketing Specialist and Dr. Derrel Peel, OSU Livestock Marketing Specialist, Mr. Jason Pace, SW District Area Agriculture Economy Specialist, and Dr. Randy Boman, Research Director and Cotton Extension Program Leader for the Southwest Research and Extension Center.

Topics addressed will be the grain, livestock, and cotton commodity markets and an update on cotton harvest in the area and outlook for 2014. These meetings are designed to foster a better understanding of how the market operates, how to best utilize the market, reports on current market status, and brief crop updates.

This meeting will be conducted utilizing live interactive technology with the Stillwater Campus, meaning they will be able to see and hear us and vice versa, and in person visits with our cotton specialists. A light free lunch will be served. Pre-registration is requested (but not required) by 4 p.m., Tuesday at the Extension Office, 482-0823.
