Christmas events being held today

Several local churchs are holding special Christmas programs and services. Today, there will be a Candlelight Christmas service at Trinity Baptist Church, located at 1300 N. Benson in Altus, at 6 p.m. There will also be Christmas music. All are welcome.

“The Organ Plays at Christmas” featuring organist Tom Cotner and Russell Webber on trumpet, will be presented at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church today. The church is located at the corner of Thomas and “A” Street. This free concert of Christmas songs, old and new, will start at 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Come join the Prince of Peace Catholic Church as they rejoice in the joy of Jesus’ birth and the peace that comes from God’s love, God’s presence, and God’s forgiveness. During this Joyous Season, they rejoice with special services Christmas Eve Carols and Midnight Mass. The Christmas Eve services include the singing of Christmas carols at 11:30 p.m. followed by Midnight Mass. On Christmas Day, Mass in English at 10 a.m., and Christmas Day Mass in Spanish at Noon.

On Christmas Eve, Emmanuel Baptist Church of Altus will be hosting a candlelight service at 6 p.m. There will be no Wednesday night service on Dec. 25.

A Christmas Eve Candelight Service will also be held at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 208 E. Cypress. Rev. Bill Carr will lead the service with scripture and carrols.

Strong Power Ministries is hosting a “Christmas Day Community Luncheon” on Wednesday, Dec. 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 805 Martin Luther King Drive, in Altus. This event is free to the public.

A related event being held today is the Mahan Family Community Christmas Dinner from 12 - 2 p.m., at the Tower Apartments, 101 E. Commerce in Altus. Dinner will be served at no charge. Everyone is invited.
