Avila to teach watercolor workshop at library

January 19, 2014

An adult workshop in Watercolor with local artist Bobby Avila is being offered at the Altus Public Library from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, Jan. 27, 28, and 30. The cost of the class is $30 and all materials will be provided. Space for the class is limited so pre-registration is required.
Instructor for the workshop, Bobby Avila, is an instructor in the art department of Altus High School. Avila is a graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a degree in art education. He has taught in the Altus Public School System for the last seven years. Avila is now a regular instructor for the Shortgrass Institute and his workshops are always very popular so signing up early is necessary if you want to attend one of his workshops.
Avila likes to encourage his students to “think outside the box” and be expressive as they expand their artistic talents. Working with Bobby in one of his workshops is a refreshing experience for beginners and advanced students. Avila’s classes are always fun and interesting.
To attend the workshop, you should be at least 16 years of age. Call the library at 477-2890 to get your name on the list.
The class is sponsored by the Shortgrass Institute and the Southern Prairie Library System and is made possible by a grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council.
