The Altus Municipal Authority and City Council will hold their regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, to discuss expediting water transmission to the City of Altus.
During the City Council meeting, Council members will consider to authorize staff to directly obtain professional engineering services in order to begin the process of rehabilitation existing booster station and storage tank located on the Round Timber Ranch, as well as further development and or rehabilitation of the Holloway well field in order to expedite and maximize water transmission to the City of Altus. Council will also consider water sources and products for the City of Altus.
During the AMA meeting, the Finance Department will give a presentation of the financial and operational report for the period ending Dec. 31, 2013.
The AMA will discuss and vote to authorize the civil engineering firm Fox, Dreshsler & Brickley, Inc. of Altus, partnering with Traffic Engineering Consultants (TEC) of Oklahoma City, to design the traffic light construction drawing and be approved by ODOT for the intersection of Park Avenue and East Broadway for a total cost not to exceed $20,000.
After any new business, the AMA meeting will adjourn and the City Council meeting will commence.
The City Council will consider the consent agenda before moving on to consider to begin the process of implementing Treatment Alternative No. 1 as recommended by Freese & Nichols, which requires the construction of a 12” water line from the Altus Water Treatment Plant to intersection of US 283 and ECR 1750.
Council will consider to approve an addendum to lease for sooner International Raceway Graving Land Tract 1 & 2 to Guy Smith of Blair, to allow the lessee to sublet a portion of the leased premises to Jackson County District #1, for governmental use, and to authorize the Mayor to sign the Amended Lease Agreement.
Council will also consider to fulfill each of the Charter requirements: Article III, Sec. 1, Council shall appoint City Manager; Article VII, Sec. 2, Merit System, Policies in existence at the time of the adoption of the Charter shall continue until the policies required by this Section are adopted.
Council will then enter executive session regarding confidential communications between the City Council and its legal counsel regarding pending litigation, Jackson County District Court, Case No. CJ-2013-144, City of Altus and Altus Municipal Authority, Plaintiffs vs. Glenn Briggs & Associates, Inc.; Indeck Power Equipment Company; Proquip, Inc.; Automatic Engineering, Inc.; Shoestring Enterprises, L.L.C.; Wilco Construction, Inc.; Hydracap Engendering Manager; GE Osmonics, Inc; FG Haggarty Co.; White Hawk Construction; Lee Construction; Marshall Construction; Cooley Construction; and S.B. Jones, Defendants; and in open session take appropriate action.
After discussion of any new business, City Administrator’s, City Council members’, and Mayor’s comments and reports, the meeting will adjourn.
