Rylee Wilson was crowned Miss Altus 2014 at Saturday night’s 44th annual Miss Altus Pageant. She is a 17-year-old senior at Navajo High School, and is the daughter of Rodney and Staci Wilson of Altus. Rylee’s platform is “Connect 4 Life” which encourages students to be involved in extracurricular activities such as sports, 4-H/FFA, band, etc. For her talent presentation Rylee performed a clogging routine to “You Can’t Stop the Beat” from Hairspray.
Contestants this year vying for the title of Miss Altus were Amy Roberts, Beth Braddock, Kristen Hammock, Mackenzie Hazel, Rylee Wilson and Sicily Gonzales. Jobeth Bryan was the 7th contestant, but dropped out due to health issues.
Contestant Beth Braddock was named 1st runner up, and Mackenzie Hazel was named 2nd runner up.
There were special peformances during the night by Mistress of Ceremonies Lacey Russ, Miss Altus 2014 Ashley Wheeler, the 2014 Miss Altus Outstanding Teen Lexie Herron, and Miss Oklahoma 2013 Kelsey Griswold.
Along with the title of Miss Altus 2014, Rylee also received the Miss Photogenic award, the Talent award, Physical Fitness award, the Pizazz award, the Rookie Interview award, Poise and Elegance award, Art of Encouragement award, and won the $2,000 WOSC scholarship. Other special awards presented were: Miss Congeniality to Amy Roberts, the XI Delta Theta Education Scholarship and the Interview award which went to Mackenzie Hazel, and the Special Achievement Award to Sicily Gonzalez. A $1,000 Western Oklahoma State College Scholarship went to Kristen Hammock. The non-finalist Talent award also went to Kristen Hammock.
