Jim Holland Memorial Golf Tournament Set for this Saturday

August 5, 2014

Saturday, Aug. 9, 72 golfers will meet at the Greens of Altus for some friendly competition in memory of their friend Jim Holland. The 24th Annual Jim Holland Memorial Golf Tournament, sponsored by Western Oklahoma State College and the WOSC Foundation, Inc., will bring the Jim Holland Memorial Scholarship Endowment to over $225,000. Over the years these funds have been able to provide over $100,000 in scholarships to deserving students in memory of Jim Holland, longtime college faculty member and southwest Oklahoma educator.

The continued success of the tournament is a direct result of the community’s support and commitment to providing scholarships to deserving students. The golfers, volunteers, and sponsors have made it possible for the Jim Holland Memorial Golf Tournament to become the longest running golf tournament in southwest Oklahoma.

In addition to the golf tournament, this year’s activities will also include a putting contest being held in memory of longtime tournament participant and friend John Henry. John’s wife Vickie and sons Jeff and Blake, will continue as tournament sponsors. Jeff and Blake will also be playing in Saturday’s tournament.
