The Western Oklahoma State College Foundation Inc. and WOSC will be hosting the 26th Annual Jim Holland Memorial Golf Tournament at The Greens of Altus on Aug. 13.

In 1990, the foundation established a scholarship endowment in memory of Holland, longtime college faculty member and Southwest Oklahoma educator.

Holland’s untimely death created a desire for many friends and family members to make contributions to the foundation in his memory. With the support of his friends and family, the foundation held the first Jim Holland Memorial Golf Tournament in November 1991 with the goal of raising $10,000.00. Each year since, the tradition has continued and after 25 years of fellowship and golf the funds raised by the tournament have grown the scholarship endowment to more than $242,000.00.

The shotgun start, four-person scramble will begin at 8 a.m. Tournament registration fees are $200 per team and include green fees, team carts, prizes, food, drinks and trophies. Mulligans are provided to each team by sponsorship through the WOSC Alumni Association.

To register a team visit, email or call 580-477-7706. Deadline for team registration and payment is Aug. 5. Space is limited to the first 18 teams.

Organizers hope this year’s tournament will raise the scholarship endowment to exceed $255,000. Donations are tax deductible and will continue the foundation’s heritage of awarding needed scholarships. Sponsorship opportunities are available for those looking to participate in this worthwhile benefit tournament.
