Board approves vehicle sale, purchase

The East Duke Town Council met in regular session immediately following the Municipal Authority meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the Duke Town Hall at 120 W. Second St.

Mayor Dennis Hennessey called the council meeting to order and Vice mayor Herbert Turner; council members Todd Warren, Victoria Bustos and Roger Herron all answered roll. Also present were police Chief Chris Millard and town clerk-treasurer Cheyenne Houska.

The minutes of the July 11 regular meeting were read and unanimously approved.

The financial statements were reviewed and disbursements for the month of August were unanimously approved.

The council unanimously approved the purchase of a 2009 Dodge Charger from Cummins Chevrolet for $12,500.

Council members also voted to declare the 2006 Ford Crown Victoria as surplus property and to advertise the vehicle to be sold. Sealed bids will be opened at the next regular meeting on Sept. 12.

The board unanimously approved building permits for Duke Public Schools to install four carports — one each at the following locations: 206 E. and 208 E. 6111; 19076 E. CR 162 and 625 Choctaw Ave.

Payroll reports for July were reviewed and unanimously approved. The meeting was adjourned.

The Duke Town Council typically meets the second Monday of the month. The next regularly scheduled meeting is 7 p.m. Sept. 12 in the town hall immediately following the Municipal Authority meeting. For more information call 580-679-3400.
