Cotton Pickin’ Chili Cook-Off plans under way

by Michael Bush -

The Main Street Altus “Cotton Pickin’ Chili Cook-Off” will be held Saturday, Oct. 3 in downtown Altus.

Festivities begin at 10 a.m., with chili served beginning at 10:30 a.m. There will be trophy presentation at 2 p.m. Trophies and cash prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each division.

The event will include a lot of takes on chili, but entries will also include a barbecue contest and a salsa contest.

You can purchase tasting kits for just $3, which allows you to walk around and get a taste of all of the entries you want, while supplies last.

Chili contest registration forms and information are available at the Main Street Altus office, 215 N. Main Street, online at, or in Sunday’s edition of the Altus Times.

Call the Main Street Altus office at 580-482-2277 or email for more information.
