2 arrested after shots fired

Altus Police are investigating a shooting that was reported late Wednesday afternoon at approximately 5:45 p.m. in the 300 block of E. Liveoak. Altus Police Chief Tim Murphy said that the victim told police he and several other people were in his back yard when a dark colored Dodge Durango pulled into the alley.

“The victim said that the suspect fired one shot, from inside the vehicle, at the group in the back yard,” said Murphy. “No injuries were reported, and the suspect and vehicle were not immediately located.”

Murphy said that about two hours later police located a vehicle that matched the description given by the victim and witnesses in the 300 block of S. Spurgeon.

Officers stopped the vehicle after it was seen approaching the area where the shot was originally reported. The suspect, who was driving the vehicle when stopped by police, and was identified by the victim as the shooter.

The suspect, Isaac Ray Castillo, 18, was arrested and transported the Jackson County Jail on charges of No Drivers License and No Insurance. Investigators later charged Castillo with Shooting With Intent to Kill. A female passenger in the vehicle, identified as Denise Martinez, 21, was also arrested by police on charges of Obstructing an Officer after she interfered with the investigation.
