Back to school: what you need to know


Back to School Bash

From 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on July 29, Operation C.A.R.E. Ministries Inc, First United Methodist Church, The Jackson County Health Department, and other local churches and business are holding a Back to School Bash for all grades K-12 at the Altus Community Center at 401 Falcon Rd. in Altus.

At the event, there will be free food, free school supplies, free health screenings (current shot record required), free haircuts, information and resources, and giveaways.

Parents or guardians of children must be present. For more information, call Angela Ybarra at 580-318-2490.

Important dates:

– New student One-Stop Enrollment is scheduled for 8 a.m. – noon Aug. 4 at the Altus High School cafeteria at 400 N. Park Ave.

– Altus Public Schools free physicals and drug testing is scheduled for 9 – 11:30 a.m. Aug. 5 at the Altus High School Cafeteria at 400 N. Park Ave.

– Meet the Teacher is scheduled for 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. Aug. 11 at all Altus schools.

-Senior cap and gown pictures taken 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Aug. 14 at the AHS cafeteria, 400 N. Park Ave. Call 940- 692- 9691 to schedule a time.
