Altus police are searching for a man after an arrest warrant was issued through the Jackson County District Court on a charge of second degree murder.
Investigators believe 24-year-old Marielle Trey Smith is responsible for the shooting death of 32-year-old Jared Allen Holmes.
Investigators searched a home in the 400 block of North Julian on Monday and discovered evidence that a shooting took place at this location. Police believe the shooting took place sometime Sunday night after area residents heard what sounded like gunfire coming from the home at around 9:00 p.m.
The motive for the shooting is unclear at this point but investigators believe the suspect shot and killed the victim, 32-year-old Jared Allen Holmes. Investigators and family members of the victim have not had contact with the victim since Sunday night.
Marielle Trey Smith is described as a black male, 5 foot, 6 inches tall, weighing approximately 200 pounds. Smith has numerous tattoos on both arms, chest, and back, along with a tattoo on the left side of his neck. Smith may be driving a 2007 White Dodge Charger with Oklahoma license plate DNT-166 or the victims 2002 Black Chev Tahoe with Oklahoma license plate 900-LUK.
