Three Altus women in SWOSU pageant

Caroline Quam, Rebecca Reyes and Lana Spandley, all of Altus, are contestants in the Miss SWOSU Scholarship Pageant to be held on Saturday, Nov. 7. The event will be held at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center on the Weatherford campus of Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Fifteen SWOSU students will compete for the title of Miss SWOSU 2016. The winner advances to the Miss Oklahoma Pageant in the summer of 2016.

Quam is a freshman majoring in elementary education. For the talent competition, she plans to sing “Sway”. Her platform issue is R.O.L.E. Read Out Loud Each Day.

Reyes is a senior majoring in music education-instrumental. For the talent competition, she plans to play and instrument-Euphonium to Mexican Folk song “Cielito Lindo”. Her platform issue is Prevention of Domestic Violence.

Spandley is a freshman majoring in pre-pharmacy. For the talent competition, she plans to sing “Dog Days Are Over”. Her platform issue is Living to Learn.

Sarah Copeland, Miss SWOSU 2010, will serve as mistress of ceremonies. Entertainers for the evening are Kendi’s School of Dance, current Miss SWOSU Lacey Anderson of Walters and Miss SWOSU’s Outstanding Teen 2016 who will be crowned earlier that day in a 3 p.m. pageant at the Fine Arts Center.

Advance tickets are available in Room 205 of the SWOSU Administration Building and from all contestants. Tickets will also be available at the door. Tickets are good for both pageants.
