The Jackson and Greer County Extension offices will offer an Alternative Crops field tour at the Southwest Research and Extension Center (SWREC) from from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday. SWREC is located 3 miles south of Altus on Hwy 283, west side of the road.
This meeting will include an overview of ongoing sesame and guar research/extension efforts and production/ management topics. Speakers will include Dr. Randy Boman, SWREC Director and Cotton Extension Program Leader; Dr. Mark Gregory, SW District Area Agronomy Specialist; Dr. Josh Lofton, OSU Extension Cropping Systems Specialist; Mr. Gary Strickland, Jackson and Greer County’s Agriculture Extension Educator and SWREC Dryland Cropping Systems Specialist; and Jared Johnson, Sesaco Field Tech Representative.
The meeting will start in the SWREC conference room, move to a tour of field plots, and finish up with a free sponsored lunch. Pre-registration is requested, but not required, by noon on Wednesday, Nov. 4 to assist with meal counts. This should be informative meeting for area agriculture producers.
