Western Oklahoma State College’s music department will present its Spring musical, “Into the Woods”, by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, April 15 and 16 at 7 p.m. and April 17 at 3 p.m. in the Herschal H. Crow Fine Arts Center. The cast and crew, comprised of Western and Altus High School students, have been rehearsing since January and are excited to share their talents with the community. Tickets are already on sale at the Western Business Office. They are $8 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets can also be purchased at the door before each show.
“Into the Woods” is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, retelling the classic stories of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel. All of the tales are connected to yet another original story involving a baker and his wife, their desire to have a child, and the deal they strike with the witch who has cursed them.
“Into the Woods” is directed by Jeff Gonda, Western Vocal Music Instructor and assistant director, Sally George. Gary Gardner will direct the instrumental ensemble playing for the show.
