Faith-based 12-Step program meeting at Martha Road

Celebrate Recovery, a faith-based 12-step program, is meeting at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday evenings at the Martha Road Baptist Church.

Celebrate Recovery, founded by Rick Warren, New York Times best-selling author of “The Purpose Driven Life”, and John Baker, has achieved gratifying results by offering “wholeness” to people everywhere. This program is not simply to recover from past sins and hurts, but to become Christ-like in character.

Celebrate Recovery Program offers weekly support to people with emotional struggles, relational issues, addictions, or any thoughts and behaviors that interfere with a joyful life. This is an ongoing program based on Christian principles as applied to the 12 Steps and the eight Beatitudes. The only requirement is a desire to come and listen. The groups are run by trained leaders and they offer a safe, confidential, and positive place to participate with other people looking for healing. We are regular people looking for help with hurts, habits, or hang-ups. There is no financial or commitment obligation. The program starts as a large group meeting with Biblically-based teachings and music. After this worship service at 8:30 p.m. small sharing groups are offered based on specific issues with fellowship and coffee.

Pastor Kevin Baker emphasizes, “When people hear the word ‘recovery’ they think it only involves those struggling with drugs and alcohol. We have individuals dealing with overeating, sexual addiction, shame and guilt, co-dependency and other hurts, habits and hang-ups. This life-changing program provides a safe environment where people can deal with their issues in anonymity.”

Celebrate Recovery is a recognized recovery program for all Drug Court participants living in Jackson and surrounding counties.

Registration is not necessary to participate and you do not need to be a member or attendee of Martha Road Baptist to attend. For further information call the church at 580-482-3377 or visit the church website at
