Most high school students get excited about prom, but some opt to skip the event because of the huge expense involved. One of the biggest expenses involved with prom is the cost of tuxedos, dresses and accessories.
Mission on Wheels Director Edna Douglas is trying to help the kids out by taking donations. She hopes to help students have an awesome prom by hosting the third annual free prom dress and suit/tux giveaway.
Douglas said that any enrolled student can receive a free prom dress or suit/tux with shoes and accessories. Tea-length, knee or long dresses in many colors and styles, along with suits are available. Prom giveaways will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m., and on Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m., through May 13. All students must be accompanied by a parent or adult.
Mission on Wheels is a non-profit organization and is totally dependant on donations from the public. MOW offers clothing and other items at no cost to anyone who needs them. All types of donations are accepted including in-kind, furniture, household items, appliances, clothing, non-perishable foods, and water. A Mission on Wheels bank account is also set up at Herring Bank in Altus.
