ALTUS — Families of wounded warriors and of junior enlisted military personnel may register now to receive free backpacks and back-to-school supplies Aug. 3, through Operation Homefront.
Hundreds of backpacks and accompanying school supplies will be distributed at this event, details of which registrants will learn when they sign up online.
Shoppers may purchase and donate school supplies to the program at any Dollar Tree store through Aug. 11. This is the eighth year that Dollar Tree has partnered with Operation Homefront to provide school supplies to military children. Last year, Dollar Tree patrons donated more than $5.6 million of supplies nationally.
The back-to-school event takes place as part of Operation Homefront’s military family campaign throughout the month of July. Every community is only as strong as the people and families who live there. That’s why Operation Homefront provides a variety of programs and services that help military families feel more connected to people and businesses in their community.
Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit organization that builds strong, stable and secure military families so that they can thrive in the communities they work so hard to protect. The organization helps the families of service members, veterans and wounded warriors by offering emergency and other financial assistance, caregiver support initiatives, back-to-school supplies, and programs that provide short-term transitional housing and mortgage-free homes.
