The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports a double fatality from a single car accident which occurred in Kiowa county on July 10. According to the report, the collision happened around 7 p.m., on St. Hwy 54, about two miles north of US 62.
67 year old Robert Mooneyham was reportedly driving a 2001 Dodge pickup north on HWY 54. For an unknown reason, the vehicle crossed over the center line and through the oncoming traffic lane before departing the roadway and impacting a creek embankment.
Mooneyham, resident of Roosevelt, was pronounced dead at the scene due to massive internal injuries.
Two passengers were in the vehicle. Deborah Lou Knotts, age 49, and Amber Marie Davis, age 33, both of Roosevelt.
According to the report, Knotts was pinned in the vehicle as a result of the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene from massive internal injuries.
Davis was transported by air-evac to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was admitted in critical condition with head and trunk internal injuries.
Both passengers were wearing seat belts, though the driver was not, according to the report. The cause of the crash and condition of the driver are still under investigation.
