The man who Altus police believe is responsible for the shooting death of 32-year-old Freddie Lopez has been returned to Jackson County.

Kevin James Nall Jr., 19, was booked into the Jackson County Jail on Wednesday morning after a warrant was issued for his arrest on Sept. 9 on a charge of first degree murder and motion to revoke a suspended sentence, according to police Chief Tim Murphy.

Altus police originally responded to the 300 block of North Hudson Street to investigate a shots fired call Sept. 1 and discovered Lopez, who had been shot multiple times.

After the shooting, investigators believe Nall initially fled to the Oklahoma City area.

Nall was apprehended in Holbrook, Arizona — Navajo County — by the U.S. Marshalls’ Fugitive Task Force on Sept. 13, police said.

Nall made his initial appearance before a Jackson County District Court Judge on Thursday on the first degree murder charge and the arrest warrant for motion to revoke a suspended sentence.

Nall’s bond has been set at $100,000 on the motion to revoke arrest warrant and $500,000 on the murder arrest warrant, Murphy said.
