The annual Shortgrass Arts and Humanities Council’s Annual Giddy-Up Gala dinner and concert will be held Friday, Aug. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the Jackson County Expo Center. The event provides an ideal event for the “Sidekicks” to perform their style of western swing, classic, and big band music. This is an awesome band of professional, award-winning members who have performed all over the region with well-known country artists too numerous to mention. Whether you eat, dance, or just sit and visit with the neighbors, this music will provide lively family entertainment.
Mikayla Jo Balderas is a talented young vocalist from Tipton. Over the past 16 years, she has created an impressive resume performing country and gospel music for hundreds of audiences. Mikayla Jo’s natural ability to sing and her passion for music became apparent at an early age and she is a crowd favorite wherever she performs.
Everyone is invited to come to eat a fried or baked chicken dinner (we’ll even have chicken nuggets for the kids) with gravy and all the sides, along with home-made desserts. You’ll thoroughly enjoy the music and may even dance if you wish to the country and western swing. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. and will end in time for everyone to attend the Great Plains Stampede Rodeo. Tickets for the dinner and concert are $15 for adults and $5 for students. Partial funding is provided by the Oklahoma Arts Council. Tickets are available from the Chamber of Commerce (482-0210), or call the SAHC office (477-1616) and leave a message requesting tickets.
