Organizers say that this year’s Jackson County Fair will be held Wednesday, Sept. 9 through Saturday, Sept. 12. This year’s theme is “It’s all about that Fair, ‘bout that Fair”.
Along with the animal entries, shows and judging, there will be commercial exhibit booths set up, Junior and Senior Youth Farm Hand Olympics, children’s tour and games, Kevin Law’s Border Collie demonstrations, an OSU insect display, turtle races, a turkey calling contest, Weiner Dog Races, a tractor pedal pull contest, and KWHW’s Beautiful Baby Contest.
Other events will include a small animal Pet Parade, karaoke, a Jackson County 4-H robotics demonstration, Altus Air Force Base security dog demonstration, and individual fair entries of various arts and crafts, photography, canning and baking, 4-H projects and more.
After the fair, all fair vouchers must be redeemed at First National Bank by Oct. 1. No vouchers will be paid after this date. Vouchers can be picked up during the fair or at the Extension office.
Organizers say that there will also be a carnival at this year’s fair, as well as a display by the Sheriff’s Department during the children’s tour, Air Evac will also make an appearance that day, there will be a fire truck and ambulance on display, as well as a petting zoo.
Also keep an eye out during the fair for special appearances by Miss Altus and Miss Altus Outstanding Teen.
