Recognitions to be made at Thursday’s Altus School Board meeting

A regular meeting of the Altus School Board will be held Thursday, Aug. 13, beginning at 5 p.m., at the administrative center. Agenda items include recognition of Altus FFA team for winning the Oklahoma Scholastic Shooting Sports Association State Championship. Mary Runyan, will also be recognized for being named the Oklahoma Band Director of the Year. Volunteers at Will Rogers Elementary School will also be recognized before a hearing a report from the Grade Centers Committee

Various contracts will be considered, including Vernon Dr. Pepper Bottling, Inc., Windy Trails Golf Course and The Greens of Altus, City of Altus Municipal Golf Course, and KWHW Radio.

Activity Fundraisers for 2015-16 will be discussed, as will out of state travel, Career Tech programs, use of school facilities and sanctioning of parent organizations.

The Board will consider and take necessary action to amend or repeal any current policy and/or to approve or not approve any new policy and/or to form the parameters for any proposed policy. These include revised food procurement regulations, charter school application process, and charter school regulations. New policies include concussion and head injury awareness management.

Retirements, resignations, retirements, reassignments, proposed substitutes/time sheet employees/volunteers/extra duty assignments are also on the agenda.

New hires will be discussed in executive session, and after returning to regular session, take any necessary action related to new hires.

District Employee of the Month Recognition Program for 2015-16 is next on the agenda, followed by admission prices for high school and junior high school athletic events, stipends, Teacher of the Year and license agreement for student management system.

The meeting will adjourn if there is no new business of an emergency nature that was not known at the time the agenda was posted.
