The Southwest Oklahoma Republican Women will host their 6th Annual Beans & Baskets fundraiser, Saturday, Aug. 29, starting at 6 p.m., at the Days Inn of Altus, located at 2804 N. Main.
This year’s keynote speaker will be Andrew Spiropoulos. Andrew is the Robert S. Kerr, Sr. Professor of Constitutional Law at Oklahoma City University School of Law and the Director of the School’s Center for the Study of State Constitutional Law and Government. He is a graduate of Carleton College and received an MA in political science and his law degree from the University of Chicago. Before joining the faculty in 1991, Professor Spiropoulos clerked for Judge Danny J. Boggs of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and practiced law with the Chicago firm of Gardner, Carton & Douglas. From 2005 to 2006, he served as Senior Counselor to the Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives. He has been a Heritage Foundation Salvatori Fellow, was the Reporter of the Uniform Interstate Enforcement of Domestic-Violence Protection Orders Act, and is currently the Milton Friedman Distinguished Fellow at the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs. Professor Spiropoulos writes and teaches in the fields of constitutional law, legislation, state and local government, and political theory.
Beans & cornbread with all of the fixings and homemade desserts will be served. Lots of baskets full of all kinds of goodies will be auctioned by Scott Tripp of Tripp & Sons Auctioneering. Many of our state and local elected officials will be in attendance.
Tickets are on sale now for $15 each, or tables of 8 for $120, or 10 for $150 may be reserved. Please join us for a casual evening of great food, fellowship and fun.
