The Harmon and Jackson County Extension Offices will be offering pre-season wheat meetings on Aug. 26. These meetings will include topics covering early season wheat management, seed treatment and herbicide options, projected wheat budgets, and stocker and cow/calf feeding programs with wheat pasture.
Speakers will include Dr. Mark Gregory, SW District Area Agronomy Specialist, Mr. Marty New, SW District Area Livestock Specialist, Mr. Gary Strickland, Jackson and Greer County’s Agriculture Extension Educator and Southwest Research and Extension Center (SWREC) Dryland Cropping Systems Specialist.
The Harmon County meeting will be held at the Hollis Community Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., while the Jackson County meeting will be held at the Jackson County Extension Office from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be free sponsored meals served during each meeting.
Pre-registration is requested, but not required, by Tuesday, Aug. 25, 12 noon, to assist with meal counts. These should be informative meetings for area agriculture producers.
