Get set for a romantic, fun evening at the 3rd Annual Chocolate festival.  It’s set to start at 6 p.m. at the Best Western Ballrooms, next Saturday night, Feb. 8, just in time to please your sweetheart, complete with the beautiful saxophone music of Dr. David Huey. Five star reviews of this event cite it as a chance to dress up and get ready for a fabulous evening of chocolates and romance just in time for Valentine’s Day.
More than 25 local organizations and businesses have come together to host individual tables offering a variety of confections , featuring truffles, brownies, torts chocolate cheesecake, and all your favorites, with wine tasting and non alcoholic beverages, as well! There will be free photographs, silent auction items, and souvenirs for all.
The ballrooms will be filled with the strains of saxophone, and silent auction items from generous merchants will offer tables of beautiful gifts, just in time for Valentine’s Day. While the chocolates, savory and wine will have piqued your interest, the group behind it and its mission will have your attention.
“This is the Altus Armed Services YMCA’s biggest fundraiser,” said Linda Wood, Chocolate Festival Chairperson. The ASYMCA is a not profit organization dedicated to making military life easier right here in Altus .In the past year we offered programs and activities for over 8400 military family members.
Joan Wilcoxen, Executive Director said, “A great big thank you to everyone who attends, for you are helping our outreach mission. We deliver refurbished washers and dryers to the youngest and newest military families who are in need, and offer socials that help them make new friendships and connect within the community. We send care packages to the deployed airmen, provide transportation on weekends, host luncheons for new troops and their families, and offer a dozen programs to make life in the military easier. Every week I get emails from folks who have moved on from Altus to say how they wished they could find an ASYMCA near them, because it was so special for them. What a great way to share love with your sweetheart while passing it forward by your support of our mission. So bring your sweetheart and get ready for a night you will always remember.
Tickets are available now at the Shamrock Bank of Altus at 401 East Tamarack Road, or by phoning Linda at 580-471-6729.
