Tom Buchanan, Chairman of the Board of the Altus Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that General Mark A. Welsh III , Chief of Staff United States Air Force will be the keynote speaker for the 106th Annual Banquet scheduled for Thursday, March 6. The Annual Banquet will be held in the Altus High School Cafetorium beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a reception followed by dinner at the traditional 7:01 p.m.
Gen. Mark A. Welsh III is Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C. As Chief, he serves as the senior uniformed Air Force officer responsible for the organization, training and equipping of 690,000 active-duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian forces serving in the United States and overseas. As a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the general and other service chiefs function as military advisers to the Secretary of Defense, National Security Council and the President.


General Welsh was born in San Antonio, Texas. He entered the Air Force in June 1976 as a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy. He has been assigned to numerous operational, command and staff positions. Prior to his current position, he was Commander, U.S. Air Forces in Europe.

“Altus America , A Leadership Vision for the Future ” is the theme for this year’s banquet. Chamber Ambassadors will serve as hosts and greeters.
The Master of Ceremonies for the 106th Altus Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet is Jim Gover, Past Chairman of the Board. Service Plaques will be presented to outgoing directors Steve Allison, Western Equipment; Elizabeth Marcha, NBC Oklahoma; Raylon Shumaker, Ag Preference; Chris Roberts, Roberts Motors; Rodger Kerr, Southwest Technology Center; N. Lee Doughty, First State Bank, A Branch of Herring Bank; Reverend David Player, First United Methodist Church and Krystal Martin, Belles N Beaus and The Booterie. Rick Vernon and Jim Gover will be recognized for their service as past Chairmen of the Board of the Altus Chamber of Commerce.
