Altus Public Schools Director of Child Nutrition, Sabina Garrett, and Rivers Cafeteria Manager, Gloria Casias, recently conducted a taste test with students in Ms. Gretchen Street’s Pre-K class. Students were given a variety of popular snacks that were made with whole grains. Mrs. Garrett spoke to the students about the importance of a healthy diet, that includes whole grains. Students were asked to taste the snacks and give feed back, which was very positive. “We want to give our students the most nutritious options, and educate them on making healthy eating choices. The earlier we can form good habits in our children, the more likely they are going to be to continue those habits into adulthood,” said Garrett.
