Altus Police are investigating a carjacking that took place Tuesday morning shortly before 11 a.m. in the 300 block of West Liveoak. The victim said a black male pulled her from her vehicle and drove away at a high rate of speed headed West bound.

Area law enforcement were notified, and the vehicle was located a short time later on Hwy 6, just north of the Olustee community. An Olustee police officer watched as the suspect hid under a bridge after he wrecked the stolen vehicle. Law enforcement converged on that location and took the suspect into custody. He was then transported to the Jackson County Jail.

The suspect, Tryvieon Patterson, 21, is currently housed at the Department of Corrections work center in Altus. Patterson was originally convicted in Oklahoma County on several felony charges which include unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, several Burglary complaints, false declaration of a pawn receipt and concealing stolen property.
Police Chief Tim Murphy said that police are also investigating a burglary to a residence at 311 West Walnut. Investigators continue to collect evidence and interview potential witnesses. Police believe Patterson could be responsible for this burglary as well as the carjacking. Formal charges will be submitted to the Jackson County District Attorneys Office.
