A former Altus man is among three facing murder charges in Iowa. According to reports, Michael Schenk, 26, and two other are said to be involved in the discovery of two bodies inside a burning building in western Iowa.
Also arrested were Jayden Chapman, 19, and Erika Haberberger-Dains, 36. All three are charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree arson.
Authorities say the bodies of Marvin Huesling, 80, and Alice Huisenga, 81, were found inside the burning structure last Monday. Huesling was said to have died from multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities say that Huisenga was killed by “homicidal violence.”
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says the suspects were likely on the property to steal scrap metal. They are currently being held in the Crawford County Jail.
Schenk has a criminal history in Jackson County, and he and the other two suspects have been charged in this case have been convicted of theft and burglary in 2013.
