The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation arrested Forrest Kyle Barfield, 25, at the crime scene for stabbing a 53-year-old man outside a home in Snyder in October 2013.

According to reports, Thomas Kent Bell was stabbed Oct. 2, and was then rushed to Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus where he later died.

Snyder Police requested the help of OSBI agents in the investigation. Investigators say the two men were involved in a physical fight, and Barfield stabbed Bell during the altercation.

Barfield was booked into the Kiowa County jail on a complaint of first-degree murder.

Barfield was convicted of first-degree manslaughter by a Kiowa County jury on Friday following a four-day trial. The jury recommended a 13-year sentence. Yesterday, Wednesday, June 4, Barfield was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
