HOLIDAY SHORES — A person was killed when an 18-wheeler carrying milk rolled onto a vehicle of unknown make on State Route 140 at approximately 10:30 a.m., a Fosterburg firefighter told the Telegraph.
The accident happened on State Route 140 just east of East Liberty Prairie Lane and southwest of Holiday Shores.
An Oldsmobile Alero was also involved.
The Holiday Shores Fire Protection District and Prairietown Fire Department were on the scene as well as a representative from the Madison County Coroner’s office. Illinois State Police are handling the investigation and one of their Commercial Vehicle Inspection officers is checking the tanker for defects.
State Route 140 is closed at state Route 159 on the west side and at St. James Road on the east side. Both sections of the highway will likely be impassable for a couple hours while responders work on the scene. No other injuries were reported.
