The Jackson County Commissioners held their regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 3, to discuss appointing a representative within the taxing jurisdiction to serve as a member on the Altus Local Development Act Review Committee. District Attorney John Wampler provided an explanation to Commissioners on the Ordinance approved by City Council that calls for the creation of a review committee to consider boundaries for a tax increment district.
“The City has the right to initiate the creation and one of the first steps of that process is to create this review committee, to make recommendations to the City Council as to what the boundaries of the district should be, whether it should be created, or not created,” Wampler explained. Commissioners tabled this item until the following regular meeting to invite Councilman Rick Henry for further discussion.
Other items on the agenda included approval of Supplemental Appropriations from the month of August. Commissioners also discussed a membership renewal with Air Evac Lifeteam representative Christy Lovelace. Lovelace is going to research questions presented by Commissioners. No action was taken.
Commissioners also approved last meeting’s minutes, reports, and blanket purchase orders. After they approved claims, the meeting adjourned.
