Altus Mayor David Webb visited residents at the Plantation Village Assisted Living Center on Wednesday and presented a signed proclamation for National Assisted Living Week for the duration of Sept. 8 through Sept. 14. As the number of elderly people and disabled Americans is dramatically increasing, assisted living is a long term care service that fosters choice, dignity, independence and autonomy in our elderly nationwide. The National Center for Assisted Living proudly created National Assisted Living Week. The theme for 2013, “Home-made Happiness,” highlights the opportunity to share with our residents a multitude of events and activites that demonstrate how much we care for and love them. All citizens are urged to visit friends and loved ones who reside at these facilities, and also to learn more about assisted living services and how they benefit our communities.(Front row from left) Florence Ruben, Arlene Rowlett, Lewis Golding, Laura Sadler, and Katarina Kirby(Back row from left) CMA Stella Sanchez, Christine Wax, Dietary Manager Ana Camins, Clifton “Flash” Gordon, Shirley Mahan, Mayor David Webb, Administrator Monica Castillo, LPN LaKasta Allen, Erma Petty, Activity Director Julie Capetillo, and Barbara Matthews.
