Crowning ceremony held in Oklahoma City
Six girls from the First Assembly of God in Altus attended the annual crowning ceremony for Girls Ministries in Oklahoma City’s Tabernacle Assembly of God. At the state level, these girls were honored for their accomplishment in the Stars and Friends Club. These girls completed requirements for this club. The girls that attended the state crowning for the Stars club were: Lexi King, Destanie Huetter, and Tahya Martin. These girls received a crown, flowers and certificates. Lexi King received the Bronze Medal of Honor for completing three clubs. The girls in the Friends club were Samerah Coleman, Ashlynn Shipper and Sara Watson. The girls in the Friend club received a purple graduation cord and certificates. Samerah, Ashlynn and Sara all received the Silver Medal of honor for completing four clubs. The crowning in Oklahoma City took place Aug. 16.
The girls were honored here in Altus at the First Assembly of God on Falcon Road. The crowning ceremony took place Aug. 25. Seven girls were honored here. The clubs levels that were honored are Stars, Friends and Girls Only. The stars were Lexi King, Destanie Huetter and Tehya Martin. In Stars you must complete 27 units of study, memorize 27 verses, complete 27 projects and read the new testament of the Bible. These girls go before a review board of three sponsors. The Friends Club were Samerah Coleman, Ashlynn Shipper and Sara Watson. These girls had to complete 18 units of study, memorize 18 verses, complete 18 projects and read the whole Bible. These girls also go in front of a review board. June Armendariz, in Girls Only Club completed four years of Girls Only. She completed 20 units of study, memorized 20 verses and 20 projects and read the entire Bible. She also went before a review board. June received a red graduation cord and a Girls Only necklace and certificates. June received the Gold Medal of Honor for completing five club levels.
First Assembly of God offers Girls Ministries clubs from ages 3 to 18. Rainbows: pre-school program for ages 3-5; Daisies: kindergarten; Prims: 1st and 2nd grades; Stars: 3rd-5th grades; Friends: 6th-8th grades; and Girls Only: 9th-12 grades. First Assembly of God also offers a boys program called Royal Rangers for the same age groups.
