Man arrested for stealing cars from local dealership

Altus Police have arrested a man in the connection with the theft of two automobiles from a local car dealership. Police originally responded to Wilmes Chevrolet at approximately 6:20 p.m. to investigate the theft of a 2013 Chevrolet Camero. On Star was contacted, officers located and stopped the vehicle in the 100 block of North Lee a short time later.
During the traffic stop, another subject stopped, exited a 2011 Chevrolet Camero, and approached the police. Further investigation showed the 2011 Chevrolet Camero was also stolen. Unknown to personnel from Wilmes Chevrolet thatthe 2011 Chevrolet Camero was taken from the dealership approximately 10 days ago.
Taken into custody on two counts of Knowingly Concealing Stolen Property and two counts of Larceny of an Automobile was Johnny Loren Burnett, 20. Burnett is currently being held in the Jackson County Jail. The driver of the 2013 Chevrolet Camero was questioned by investigators and released. The investigation continues as additional charges could be filed in Jackson County District Court.
Burnett also has a hold for Commanche County on other charges.
