Jackson County Commissioners approved to apply for a REAP Grant for a pumper truck for the Friendship Fire Department during their end-of-the-month meeting on Thursday, Oct. 31, along with other items on the agenda.
Commissioners approved Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) Grant Resolution No. 2013-36, and an inter-local Agreement, to purchase a pumper truck and equipment for the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department. The grant application, to be submitted to SWODA before the Nov. 7 deadline, is for $100,000 to go toward the total cost for the project of $120,000.
Also during the meeting, Commissioners proclaimed November 13, as “Winter Weather Preparedness Day” to inform citizens of proper actions to take when winter weather conditions prevail, in cooperation with Jackson County Emergency Management, Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management, Oklahoma Department of Transportation, National Weather Service, and other state agencies and local governments.
Commissioners approved a $3,800 transfer of appropriations within the Highway Cash Fund, from Capital Outlay to Maintenance & Operations to payback a purchase made by District #2 for a welder, and approved appropriations for the month of October.
Commissioners also approved a Report of Conference between Jackson County District #3 and a bridge inspection consultant (CED #7). Upon bridge inspectors recommendation, Bridge No. N1980E1650008 (NBI #08400) located 1.08 mile S. of Victory Cemetery, was replaced with a temporary pipe and will remain in the database as a temporary structure until replaced. It is programmed to be replaced in 2018 under the five year plan as recommend by CED #7. They also approved the consultant’s invoice of amounts and approvals in the amount of $140.00 for a six-month bridge inspection.
Commissioners approved Resolution No. 2013-35 to reimburse the General Fund account for expenses paid to the Jackson County Election Board from the Special City of Altus Municipal Election that was held Aug. 13.
At their next regular meeting, 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, Commissioners will consider an engagement to have Oklahoma State Auditors perform an audit for FY’s ending June 30, 2012 and June 30, 2013.
Other items on the agenda: Consider supplemental appropriations for the month of October; Appoint trustee to serve for the South Western Oklahoma Development Authority, effective January 1, 2014 with term ending December 31, 2014; Consider REAP Grant Resolution and inter-local Agreement for purchasing a wild fire trailer and equipment for the Jackson County Task Force- Jackson County Rural Fire Chiefs Association; Consider a REAP Grant Resolution and inter-local Agreement for construction of a fire station for the Warren Fire Department.
