Richard Mills, M.D., has joined the staff of the Emergency Department at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Dr. Mills is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Physicians and specializes in Emergency Medicine. He spent seven years in Greenville, South Carolina, providing emergency care in a four-hospital system that includes a level-one trauma center.
Mills completed undergraduate studies at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. He received a medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica, and completed a residency in Family Medicine at the Greenville Hospital System-University Medical Center in Greenville, South Carolina, in 2007.
“My desire is to become an integral part of Jackson County Memorial Hospital, to provide the greatest medical care possible and to provide superior customer service to my patients,” states Mills. “Since completing family practice residency training, I have spent my medical career solely in Emergency Medicine.” “ED patients present with diverse medical conditions where I am able to use my expertise to diagnose and provide treatment.”
Dr. Mills and his family continue to settle in to Altus and are becoming better acquainted with the southwest Oklahoma community. “We are looking forward to making Altus our new home.” Mills and his wife, Janet, have two children, a daughter Khyler age 11, and a son Kole age 8.
Mills staffs the JCMH Emergency Department on a rotating basis along with ED director Dr. Roy Goddard and other ED physicians. Cheryl Simco, RN, MSN, is the Nurse Manger of the JCMH ED.
In 2013, the JCMH ED cared for 19,984 patients.
