Easter is this Sunday, April 20. Most churches will hold special services that day, with some presenting special choir and other specials. There are also egg hunts being held by City of Altus, as well as other groups, both tomorrow and Saturday.


The Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1500 Falcon Road, is holding Holy Thursday of the Lord’s Supper today with Mass at 7:30 p.m. On Good Friday tomorrow, they will hold Stations of the Cross at noon, and a Good Friday of the Passion of the Lord service at 7:30 p.m. They will also hold an Easter Vigil on Saturday, April 19 p.m., with Easter Mass in English at 10 a.m., and in Spanish at noon.


Plantation Village Nursing Center in Altus is hosting its annual egg hunt tomorrow, Friday, April 18, at 2 p.m., and everyone is invited to come out. Grace Living Center im Mangum is also hosting an egg hunt with prizes on Friday, April 18 at 2:30 p.m., weather permitting, and is inviting all who want to attend to come by.


You and your children, ages birth through 5th grade, are also invited to the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Emmanuel Baptist Church on Saturday, April 19 at 11 a.m. In case of inclement weather, the egg hunt will be held in the church fellowship hall.


The City of Altus Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 19 at 2 p.m. at the Altus City Park. Toddlers through age 12 can hunt for candy, prize filled eggs, stuffed bunnies and grand prize baskets. An added attraction is the chance to take a photo with the Easter Bunny.


The public is invited to an Easter Musical on Sunday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 800 N. Forrest in Altus. They will be presenting “Jesus, Messiah” during their 10:40 a.m. worship time. For more information, contact the church office at 482-1775 or visit their website at ebcaltus.org.


The First United Methodist Church in Altus, 317 N. Main, will also be presenting an Easter Musical composed by Ron Kean. Join them for Easter worship at 6 a.m., 8 a.m., and 10:30 a.m. For more information, call 482-0795.


The First Baptist Church of Altus will hold an Easter Celebration Service on Sunday, April 20 at 10:50 a.m. in the City of Altus Auditorium, located at 201 East Commerce Street. The service will include congregational singing as well as a special musical performance by the church’s choir and instrumentalists. The pastor will be sharing a message from the Scriptures about the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the hope that Easter holds for everyone who accepts its message.


The public is invited to come and join this special day of worship and celebration. Childcare for children aged three and under will be available in the church’s main building located at 300 North Main. For more information, please contact the church office at 482-0230.
