Gary McManus, State Climatologist for the Oklahoma Climate Survey, is set to be at the Southwest Technology Center, 711 W Tamarack, on Tuesday, April 22 at 6 p.m. to discuss the drought impacting the area.

The meeting is free.

“This is an important meeting to learn about our current situation,” said Lloyd Colston, City of Altus Emergency Management director.

While the situation is of some concern, he urged residents to be informed about the drought.

“Conservation measures, part of the nine-point incident objectives for the drought, are working quite well”, Colston said. “Use the water you need; need the water you use.”

Other drought information can be found at the Oklahoma Water Resources Board site at http://www.drought.ok.gov and http://drought.gov/drought/regional-programs/southernplains/southern-plains-home is the National Integrated Drought Information System portal.
