It’s that time of year again - time to reacquaint yourself with old friends and classmates during the annual Altus High Alumni Weekend. Events start today, is always held the 4th Saturday in June.


If you graduated with a year ending in a “4” or a “9, this is your special year. Your class may have additional activities and events which may have costs that you pay direct to the class. If it isn’t your milestone year, you are still welcome to come and enjoy the festivities going on around town with those classes close to your year.


The Altus High Alumni Association planned events are as follows:


Several of the classes will be having mixers and get-togethers today. They include the Class of 1964 and the Class of 1974.


Class of 1964 events will include a mixer on Friday, June 27 from 7-11 p.m. at Val’s It’s About Time; a dutch treat luncheon on Saturday, June 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Friendship Inn Restaurant, 1800 N. Main; a class photo at the high school cafeteria at 2:30- p.m. Saturday and a tour of the high school at 3 p.m.. After the banquet, there will be a 50s and 60s dance at the VFW, 500 N. Veterans Drive. A dutch treat breakfast at Friendship Inn will be held on Sunday at 12:30 a.m.


Class of 1974 events include Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Best Western banquet room - cash bar, with non-alcoholic beverages and snacks promoted (bring something for the Memory Table); Saturday 10 a.m. private tour of high school, 11 a.m. museum event with light snacks, 6-8 p.m. banquet, 8 p.m.-? gathering at Charles Dobbs home, 308 Lakeside Drive - BYOB.


On Saturday, June 28 there will be an All Sports Association Golf Scramble. If you are interested in playing you will need to contact Allan Meier @ 580-471-5531 or allan.meier214@gmail.com.


Also on Saturday 28, the Alumni Banquet will be held at the High School Cafeteria beginning at 6 p.m. Dress is casual. Dinner will be served buffet style. This banquet is for all classes. Tables are labeled by year for each class. It is really important to pre-register so we can get an accurate count on the food. The cost of the banquet is $15 in advance and $20 day of. (Only a limited number of tickets will be sold day of).


The Altus High Alumni Association will be set up at First National Bank upstairs on Saturday morning, from 10 a.m. to noon. You can stop by and pick up your tickets and your name tags for the banquet. You can also stop by and pay your alumni dues if you forget to mail them in. Remember your dues are very important to help keep the Alumni Association active and functioning. Dues are only $5 per year. If you pre-registered and you can’t make it to the bank by noon your tickets will be waiting for you at the door of the cafeteria.
