The Jackson County Commissioners held their regular meeting on Monday, July 13, where they approved a temporary transfer of $400,000 for the Sheriff’s Department and considered other items on the agenda.


Jackson County Treasurer Renee Howard said that a temporary transfer is necessary in order for the Sheriff’s Department to cover payroll expenditures until October while they wait for sales tax bond over payments to be returned from the bond holder Banc First.


Commissioners also approved the County Treasurer’s Amended Resale Budget for FY 2014-15. Howard said that the original Resale Budget was approved with an incorrect balance and needed to be corrected.


Commissioners approved “all risk” physical damage insurance for equipment and road machinery through the Oklahoma Department of Transportation County Road Machinery and Equipment Revolving Fund. They then approved a Resolution of Lease Renewal of the ODOT Road Machinery and Equipment Revolving Fund for a Komatsu Front End Loader for District 1; a 2011 John Deere Motor Grader, Dist. 1; a 2011 John Deere Motor Grader, Dist. 1; a 2011 John Deere Front End Loader, Dist. 2; a 2009 Volvo Loader/Backhoe, Dist 3; a 2013 Volvo Wheeled Excavator, Dist. 1; a 2014 John Deere Motor Grader, Dist 1; and a 2014 John Deere Motor Grader, Dist. 3.


Other approved items include minutes from the previous meeting, purchase orders, and the Publication of Commissioners Proceedings for the month of June.


During Officer’s Reports, Howard reported on collections received by the Oklahoma Tax Commission for the month of June. County Use Tax collections totalled $6,393.34, up $1,111.85 from the previous month; County Sales Tax totalled $112,231.80, down $1,538 from the previous month; and Cigarette Tax was $1,229.41, down $234.29.


Commissioners tabled an item regarding a professional services agreement by and between the Board of County Commissioners, Jackson County Assessor, and Total Assessment Solutions Corp., for commercial revaluation services. Also, there was no action taken on an item for a Commissioners’ Sale by the Jackson County Treasurer’s Office for property acquired at Resale located at 1305 Frisco in Altus.


After approval of claims, the meeting adjourned.
