The Altus Fire Department responded to a call Friday afternoon of smoke and possible fire at Fred's Restaurant on N. Main in Altus. Employees and patrons were removed from the building as crews quickly contained the fire. According to firefighters, a neon sign caught a section of the soffit ablaze. The fire was quickly contained with minimal damage, and the fire did not get inside the restaurant. The restaurant later re-opened for business.
